Patient Details

This gynecomastia case is what I call advanced. This means that he has the size and shape of his chest whereby a decision needs to be made as to whether or not skin removal is necessary. Most of these patients are overweight, have lost a lot of weight or they are older. The common denominator in all advanced cases typically involves compromised skin elasticity (looser skin).

The most important factor determining great results after gynecomastia treatment is skin elasticity. Simply put, the thicker and more elastic your skin is the better your skin retraction will be. After gynecomastia tissue removal and liposuction, your skin must retract back smoothly so there are no creases or skin folds.

Making this decision is challenging unless your surgeon has a lot of experience with gynecomastia. I have taught the world that it is entirely possible and advisable NOT to remove skin in most cases because of natural skin retraction that occurs after treatment. Skin removal is certainly a good option for many patients who need it but it’s common sense that most men prefer not to have scars across their chest and around their areolas if possible.

Skin removal gynecomastia treatment results are quite satisfactory for many patients whom I have operated upon. At the Austin Gynecomastia Center, most of the patients who have proceeded with skin removal treatment did so because I recommended the option because of extreme skin laxity. The typical patient loses over 100 pounds and their chest skin was sagging and there was a complete loss of skin elasticity without the potential for skin retraction.

Back to this specific case you can see the result of my standard treatment in a challenging case—advanced gynecomastia. He was given the choice of skin or no skin removal treatment and he preferred the no skin removal option. He has an imperfection on his right side with a small crease. Is this result ok with you? I can tell you that he is extremely happy and I am as well knowing how much work and effort was put into his treatment and recovery to obtain this result. As I always say: It isn’t perfect, but it is perfectly amazing!

I will be focusing more on advanced gynecomastia in the coming months so folks can have a better idea of the issues involved with advanced gynecomastia, some representative honest to goodness results, and some patient feedback on their results.
